The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Shawn Murphy, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Jim Abbott, Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Paul Calandra, Patricia Davidson, Hon. Wayne Easter, Carole Freeman, Hon. Shawn Murphy, Pierre Poilievre, Bill Siksay and Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

Acting Members present: Randy Hoback for Harold Albrecht.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst; Dara Lithwick, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Commissioner of Lobbying: Bruce Bergen, Senior Counsel; René Leblanc, Deputy Commissioner; Karen E. Shepherd, Commissioner of Lobbying.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, December 15, 2010 and section 14.1 (1) of the Lobbying Act, the Committee commenced the statutory review of the Act.
 

Karen Shepherd made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 4:26 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), the sitting was suspended.

At 5:10 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h)(vi) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 1, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on open government.
 

Stockwell Day made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:39 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
