The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in a videoconference televised session at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, David Tilson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Nicolas Dufour, Rick Dykstra, Nina Grewal, Robert Oliphant, Devinder Shory, Thierry St-Cyr, David Tilson, Justin Trudeau, Tim Uppal, Alice Wong and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Malcolm Allen for Olivia Chow.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Daphne Keevil Harrold, Analyst; Julie Béchard, Analyst. Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure on the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration: Michel-Ange Pantal, Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 18, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of immigration application process wait times.
 

Burke Thornton by videoconference from Buffalo, New York, made a statement and, with Rénald Gilbert, answered questions.

 

At 9:22 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:28 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Felix Zhang by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, and Richard Kurland by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, made statements and, with Fan Gu and Qun Li by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, answered questions.

 

At 10:07 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:08 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Geoffrey Leckey made a statement and, with Arianne Reza, answered questions.

 

At 10:36 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:37 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 10:39 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
