The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 3:48 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Guy André, Kirsty Duncan, Greg Kerr, Ben Lobb, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Hon. Judy Sgro, Peter Stoffer, Brian Storseth, Robert Vincent and Lise Zarac.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: National Defence and Canadian Forces Ombudsman: Pierre Daigle, Ombudsman; Mary McFadyen, General Counsel. As an individual: Pascal Lacoste. Veterans UN-Nato Canada: Daniel Drapeau, Veteran.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) the Committee resumed its study of combat stress and its consequences on the mental health of Veterans and their family.
 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), the Committee continue sitting beyond 5:30 p.m. for 15 minutes.

 

Pierre Daigle made a statement and, with Mary McFadyen, answered questions.

 

At 4:45 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:50 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Pascal Lacoste made a statement and answered questions.

 

Lise Zarac moved, — That Pascal Lacoste's testimony be sent to Ministers Blackburn and MacKay and that the Ministers provide a response to the testimony.

Debate arose thereon.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

 

At 5:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
