The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met in camera at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Guy André, Kirsty Duncan, Greg Kerr, Ben Lobb, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Hon. Judy Sgro, Peter Stoffer, Brian Storseth and Lise Zarac.

 

Acting Members present: Roger Gaudet for Robert Vincent.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst; James Cox, Analyst. House of Commons: Georges Etoka, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Veterans Ombudsman Pat Stogran to discuss veterans concerns and the activities of his office.

 

It was agreed, — That the Minister and departmental officials be invited to appear before the Committee.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee send a letter thanking the Dominion Sculptor, Phil White, for his work on the Military Insignia sculptures in Room 112-N in the Centre Block Building.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee investigate the possibility of a joint meeting with the Standing Committee on National Defence for a briefing on the return of Canadian forces from Afghanistan and the plans in place for the returning troops.

 

At 4:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
