The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Merv C. Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Lois Brown, Roger Gaudet, Candice Hoeppner, Brian Jean, Mario Laframboise, Colin Mayes, Merv C. Tweed, Hon. Joseph Volpe and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Mauril Bélanger for Sukh Dhaliwal, Olivia Chow for Dennis Bevington and Hon. Bryon Wilfert for Gerard Kennedy.

 

Associate Members present: Dean Del Mastro.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst; Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Bombardier: George Haynal, Vice-President, Government Affairs, Bombardier Inc.; Dan Braund, Director, Business Development and Sales, Bombardier Transportation; Paul Larouche, Director, Marketing and Product Planning, Bombardier Transportation. Alstom: Ashley Langford, Vice-President, Alstom Transport. Siemens Canada Limited: Mario Péloquin, Director, Mobility Division.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday April 2, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of high speed rail in Canada.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:27 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:29 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Olivia Chow gave notice of the following motion:

That the Committee call on the Government to release the results of 6 years worth of studies on child car seat safety by Transport Canada.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
