The Subcommittee on Canadian Industrial Sectors of the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 214, Wellington Building, the Chair, Dave Van Kesteren, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Robert Bouchard, Marc Garneau, Mike Lake and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Acting Members present: Malcolm Allen for Glenn Thibeault.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Terrence Thomas, Analyst; Nathalie Pothier, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Export Development Canada: Benoit Daignault, Senior Vice-President, Business Development. Business Development Bank of Canada: Edmée Métivier, Executive Vice President, Financing and Consulting.

 
Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Industy, Science and Technology on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, the Subcommittee resumed its study of the crisis faced by certain industrial sectors in Canada such as aerospace, energy, forestry, high-tech, and manufacturing.
 

Edmée Métivier and Benoit Daignault made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:30 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:33 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the operational budget of $39,800 to cover witnesses travel expenses on the study of the crisis faced by certain industrial sectors in Canada such as aerospace, energy, forestry, high-tech, and manufacturing, be adopted.

 

At 11:00 a.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
