The Subcommittee on Canadian Industrial Sectors of the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 9:07 a.m. this day, in Room 214, Wellington Building, the Chair, Dave Van Kesteren, presiding.

Members of the Subcommittee present: Robert Bouchard, Marc Garneau, Mike Lake, Glenn Thibeault and Dave Van Kesteren.

Acting Members present: Hon. John McKay for Marc Garneau.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Analyst ; Nathalie Pothier, Analyst.

Witnesses: Information Technology Association of Canada: Hicham Adra, Member of the Executive Committee , Public Sector Business Committee; Terry Ansari, Vice-President, Business Solutions Group, Cisco Systems Canada Co.; Bernard A. Courtois, President and Chief Executive Officer. Canadian Association of Mining Equipment and Services for Export: Jon G. Baird, Managing Director. BIOTECanada: Peter Brenders, President and Chief Executive Officer; Rainer Engelhardt, Chief Executive Officer, Eulytica Biologics. Mining Association of Canada: Paul Stothart, Vice-President, Economic Affairs.

Pursuant to the motion adopted by the Standing Committee on Industy, Science and Technology on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, the Subcommittee resumed its study of the crisis faced by certain industrial sectors in Canada such as aerospace, energy, forestry, high-tech, and manufacturing.

Rainer Engelhardt, Peter Brenders, Bernard A. Courtois, Terry Ansari and Hicham Adra made statements and answered questions.

At 10:46 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:52 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Paul Stothart and Jon G. Baird made statements and answered questions.

At 12:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:40 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.

At 1:03 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
