The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met in camera at 4:01 this day, in Room 371, West Block, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Hon. Navdeep Bains, Leon Benoit, France Bonsant, Paule Brunelle, Nathan Cullen, Hon. Geoff Regan, Devinder Shory, Alan Tonks and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Rodney Weston for Russ Hiebert.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst. House of Commons: Miriam Burke, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, Hugh MacDiarmid, President and CEO of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL), Michael Binder, President of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and Murray Elston, President of the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) appear before the Committee, on Tuesday February 24, 2009, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., to discuss the activities of AECL at Chalk River.

 

It was agreed, — That, representatives from Natural Resources Canada and representatives from Quality Urban Energy Systems of Tomorrow (QUEST), appear before the Committee to discuss the contribution of integrated approaches for providing energy services in Canadian communities.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee request a written submission from the Ottawa Riverkeepers on the activities of AECL at Chalk River.

 

At 5:12 , the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
