The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Raynald Blais, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Scott Andrews, Raynald Blais, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Randy Kamp, Yvon Lévesque, Tilly O'Neill-Gordon, Peter Stoffer and Rodney Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Bonnie Crombie for Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Peter Goldring for John Weston and Laurie Hawn for Blaine Calkins.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Fisheries Council of Canada: Patrick McGuinness, President. Groundfish Enterprise Allocation Council: Bruce Chapman, Executive Director. Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Randy Jenkins, Director, Enforcement Branch; Kevin G. Anderson, Director, Conservation and Protection Division.

 

At 3:34 p.m., Rodney Weston took the Chair.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of amendments to the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization Convention.
 

Patrick McGuinness and Bruce Chapman made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee hear more witnesses in regards of the amendments to the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization Convention (NAFO).

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of amendments to the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization Convention.
 

Randy Jenkins and Kevin G. Anderson made statements and answered questions.
