The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 9:01 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Massimo Pacetti, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Maxime Bernier, Robert Carrier, Bob Dechert, Daryl Kramp, Jean-Yves Laforest, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. John McKay, Ted Menzies, Massimo Pacetti and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Nicole Demers for Jean-Yves Laforest, Martha Hall Findlay for Hon. John McCallum and Jim Maloway for Thomas J. Mulcair.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Bergevin, Analyst; Mark Mahabir, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Tricor Automotive Group: Joseph Campbell, President; Brian Rodd, President, Securcor Corporation. GE Capital: Elyse Allan, President; Jean-François Bertrand, Senior Vice-President, Capital Markets. National Marine Manufacturers Association Canada: Sara Anghel, Vice-President, Government Relations and Public Affairs; Jeff Wilcox, President, George's Marine and Sports. Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association: Jeff Hanemaayer, Senior Vice-President; Pierre Major.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 5, 2009, the Committee resumed its study on measures to enhance credit availability and the stability of the Canadian financial system.
 

Joseph Campbell, Elyse Allan, Sara Anghel and Jeff Hanemaayer made statements and, with Brian Rodd, Jean-François Bertrand, Jeff Wilcox and Pierre Major, answered questions.

 

At 10:46 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:50 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee study the Main Estimates 2009-2010 of the Canada Revenue Agency and the Department of Finance on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee continue its study on measures to enhance credit availability and the stability of the Canadian financial system.

 

At 10:56 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
