The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met by videoconference at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Acting Chair, Dave Van Kesteren, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Luc Desnoyers, Candice Hoeppner, Cathy McLeod, Hon. Anita Neville, Dave Van Kesteren, Alice Wong and Lise Zarac.

 

Acting Members present: Rob Clarke for Candice Hoeppner, Paul Dewar for Irene Mathyssen, Meili Faille for Nicole Demers, Raymonde Folco for Hon. Anita Neville, Hon. John McCallum for Hon. Hedy Fry and Bill Siksay for Irene Mathyssen.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Analyst; Jean-François Nadeau, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development: Edward Whitehouse, Head of Pension Policy Analysis, Social Policy Division. Towers Perrin: James Pierlot, Senior Consultant; Steve Bonnar, Principal. As an individual: Beverley Smith, Member of Care of the Child Coalition.

 

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Acting Chair.

 

On motion of Anita Neville, it was agreed, — That Dave Van Kesteren be elected Acting Chair for this meeting.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 1, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of women and pension security.
 

Edward Whitehouse, James Pierlot, Steve Bonnar and Beverley Smith made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:19 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:22 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
