The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Kevin Sorenson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Jim Abbott, Lois Brown, Johanne Deschamps, Paul Dewar, Peter Goldring, Francine Lalonde, James Lunney, Deepak Obhrai, Bernard Patry, Glen Douglas Pearson, Hon. Bob Rae and Kevin Sorenson.

 

Acting Members present: Jean Dorion for Francine Lalonde.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Lee, Analyst; Melissa Radford, Analyst.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to sit in public.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the 8th Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

Your Subcommittee met on Thursday, June 11, 2009, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:

1. That the Committee concentrate on the study of the draft report on Canada/US relations during its future meetings with the objective of adopting the report and presenting to the House before the summer adjournment;

2. That the Committee consider in the fall the possibility of holding meetings concerning the G8 agenda in the lead up to 2010 meeting to be held in Huntsville, Ontario.

 

At 3:50 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:51 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of key elements of Canadian foreign policy.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 4:48 p.m., Bernard Patry took the Chair.

 

At 4:52 p.m., Kevin Sorenson took the Chair.

 

At 5:37 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
