The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met at 9:04 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Kelly Block, Patricia Davidson, Bob Dechert, Luc Desnoyers, Carole Freeman, Pierre Poilievre, Greg Rickford, Michelle Simson, Paul Szabo and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Pat Martin for Bill Siksay.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alysia Davies, Analyst; Élise Hurtubise-Loranger, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Robert Marleau.

 
Pursuant to Standing Orders 108(2) and 108(3)(h)(iv), Special Report of the Information Commissioner entitled "Report Cards 2007-2008 and Systemic Issues Affecting Access to Information in Canada" referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 26, 2009, and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, the Committee resumed its study on the Access to Information Act Reform.
 

Robert Marleau made a statement and answered questions.

 

Pat Martin moved, — That the Committee report to the House its profound disappointment with the response of the Minister of Justice to its 11th report entitled « The Access to Information Act: First Steps Towards Renewal ».

Debate arose thereon.

It was agreed,— That debate on the motion be ajourned until the next meeting of the Committee.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair communicates with the Minister of Justice to invite him to provide comments following the appearance of Robert Marleau.

 

At 11:03 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
