The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 11:04 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Bruce Stanton, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Larry Bagnell, Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Rob Clarke, Jean Crowder, Earl Dreeshen, John Duncan, Marc Lemay, Yvon Lévesque, LaVar Payne, Greg Rickford, Todd Norman Russell and Bruce Stanton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Timothy McCabe. Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies: Kim Pate, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the findings in the Correctional Investigator’s Report regarding the incarceration of Aboriginal women.
 

Kim Pate made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 11:55 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 1, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the honour of the Crown.
 

Timothy McCabe made a statement and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That no meeting be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009, in order to allow Members to attend events organized by the Assembly of First Nations.

 

At 1:03 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
