The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Gary Goodyear, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Yvon Godin, Gary Goodyear, Michel Guimond, Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Pierre Lemieux, Tom Lukiwski, Pauline Picard, Joe Preston, Marcel Proulx, Hon. Karen Redman and Scott Reid.

 

Acting Members present: Claude Bachand for Michel Guimond, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay for Hon. Marlene Jennings and David J. McGuinty for Hon. Marlene Jennings.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michel Bédard, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the request by four (4) members of the Committee to discuss their request to consider holding additional meetings, every Wednesday, when the House is in session commencing February 27, 2008, in order to hear from individuals concerning the Conservative Party of Canada's 2006 election campaign expenses commencing with the following: a) Mr. Marc Mayrand, Chief Electoral Officer, b) Gary Caldwell, former Conservative candidate in Compton Stanstead, c) Liberato Martelli, former Conservative candidate in Bourassa.
 

Karen Redman moved, — That the Committee hold additional meetings, every Wednesday, when the House is in session commencing February 27, 2008, in order to hear from individuals concerning the Conservative Party of Canada's 2006 election campaign expenses commencing with the following: a) Mr. Marc Mayrand, Chief Electoral Officer, b) Gary Caldwell, former Conservative candidate in Compton Stanstead, c) Liberato Martelli, former Conservative candidate in Bourassa.

Debate arose thereon.

 

At 1:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
