The Standing Committee on National Defence met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Rick Casson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Claude Bachand, Dawn Black, Steven Blaney, Robert Bouchard, John Cannis, Rick Casson, Cheryl Gallant, Laurie Hawn, James Lunney and Hon. Bryon Wilfert.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Shawn Murphy for Anthony Rota and Alan Tonks for Hon. Joe McGuire.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Cox, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of National Defence: LGen Michel Gauthier, Commander , Canadian Expeditionary Forces Command; Col Jean-Robert Bernier, Director, Health Services Operations.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 20, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of health services provided to Canadian Forces personnel with an emphasis on post-traumatic stress disorder.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:04 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the Third Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

On Tuesday, April 1, 2008, the Sucommittee on Agenda and Procedure agreed:

That, in relation to its study of Health services provided to CF personnel with an emphasis on post-traumatic stress disorder, a budget of $57, 800 be adopted;

That, in relation to its study of Health services provided to CF personnel with an emphasis on post-traumatic stress disorder, twelve members of the Standing Committee on National Defence travel to Wainwright, Alberta, from May 11, 2008 to May 14, 2008;

That, in relation to its study of Health services provided to CF personnel with an emphasis on post-traumatic stress disorder, twelve members of the Standing Committee on National Defence travel to Valcartier, Quebec, from June 2, 2008 to June 4, 2008;

That, for the meeting of April 15, 2008, the Committee request a briefing on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Summit in Bucharest, Romania.

 

On motion of Steven Blaney, it was agreed, — That the Third Report of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on National Defence be adopted.

 

At 5:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
