The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: André Arthur, Hon. Scott Brison, Paule Brunelle, Hon. Mark Eyking, Hon. Dan McTeague, Peggy Nash, James Rajotte, Hon. Raymond Simard, Bruce Stanton, Dave Van Kesteren and Robert Vincent.

 

Acting Members present: Art Hanger for Colin Carrie.

 

Associate Members present: Gary Goodyear.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Analyst; Mark Mahabir, Analyst; Eleanor Fast, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: National Automobile, Aerospace, Transportation and General Workers Union of Canada (CAW - Canada): Dawn Cartwright, National Aerospace Director; Roland Kiehne, President, Local 112; Carol Phillips, Assistant to the President; Steven Shrybman, Legal counsel. Alliant Techsystems Inc.: Steven J. Cortese, Senior Vice-President, Washington Operations; Carl A. Marchetto, Senior Vice-President, President, ATK Space Systems. University of Sherbrooke: Alain Royer, Professor and Researcher member of CARTEL (Centre d'application et de recherche en télédétection), Department of Geomatics Applied, Faculty of Literature and Social Sciences. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motions adopted by the Committee on January 29 and February 26, 2008, the Committee resumed its study of the proposed sale of part of MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. to Alliant Techsystems.
 

Carol Phillips, Alain Royer, and Lucy Stojak made statements and, with Steven Shrybman, Roland Kiehne and Dawn Cartwright, answered questions.

 

At 12:12 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:16 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Carl A. Marchetto made a statement and, with Steven J. Cortese, answered questions.

 

At 1:18 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
