The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in a televised session at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Yasmin Ratansi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Patricia Davidson, Nicole Demers, Johanne Deschamps, Nina Grewal, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Maria Minna, Hon. Anita Neville, Glen Douglas Pearson, Yasmin Ratansi and Bruce Stanton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Shahrzad Mobasher Fard, Analyst; Clara Morgan, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Status of Women and Official Languages.

 

Witnesses: Status of Women Canada: Clare Beckton, Coordinator, Office of the Coordinator; Cindy Paquette, Director, Corporate Services Directorate; Nanci-Jean Waugh, Director General, Governance and Communications Directorate.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2008-2009: Votes 100 and 105 under CANADIAN HERITAGE, referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 28, 2008.
 

The Minister made a statement and, with Clare Beckton and Cindy Paquette, answered questions.

 

The Chair called Vote 100 under CANADIAN HERITAGE, Status of Women.

 

Vote 100 under CANADIAN HERITAGE, Status of Women, carried.

 

The Chair called Vote 105 under CANADIAN HERITAGE, Status of Women.

 

Vote 105 under CANADIAN HERITAGE, Status of Women, carried.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair report Votes 100 and 105, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, under CANADIAN HERITAGE, Status of Women.

 

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
