The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in camera at 6:26 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Paul Szabo, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Gérard Asselin, Dean Del Mastro, Sukh Dhaliwal, Russ Hiebert, Carole Lavallée, Pat Martin, Paul Szabo, David Tilson, Dave Van Kesteren and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Meili Faille for Gérard Asselin, Jean-Yves Laforest for Gérard Asselin, Brian Murphy for Hon. Charles Hubbard and Hon. Robert Thibault for Glen Douglas Pearson.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Chad Mariage, Procedural Clerk; Gregory Tardi, Senior Parliamentary Counsel (Legal). Library of Parliament: Nancy Holmes, Analyst; Kristen Douglas, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 22, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of the Mulroney Airbus Settlement.
 

It was agreed, — That for the purposes of the Mulroney Airbus settlement the Chair of the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics send by email to each member of the Committee a copy of all incoming and outgoing letters and/or documents in the original language of the documents as soon as possible, ensuring that Committee members receive the translation in the other official language as soon as it is available.

 

It was agreed, — That Karlheinz Schreiber produce and table all calendars, day timers and personal notebooks, bank records of his under the names of IAL, Frankfurt, Britan, Marc, BrivPIV, Devon and all others and personal and related corporate tax returns subject to legal availability from 1980 to 2007 inclusive, to the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics as soon as practicable and in no case later than January 15, 2008.

 

It was agreed, — That the committee direct the chair to send a letter drafted by the committee researchers that identifies major issues identified to David Johnston, Independant Advisor into the Allegations Respecting Financial Dealings Between Mr. Karlheinz Schreiber and the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney, to aide him in his work setting the terms for a public inquiry and, that the committee directs the Chair to send this letter on or before December 14, 2007.

 

It was agreed, — That all parties will submit to the Chair their top 5 witness request by 1:00 p.m. on December 13.

 

At 7:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
