The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in a televised session at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Gary Schellenberger, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Jim Abbott, Dave Batters, Hon. Mauril Bélanger, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Ed Fast, Luc Malo, Maria Mourani, Francis Scarpaleggia, Gary Schellenberger, Hon. Andy Scott and Bill Siksay.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard, Analyst; Lara Trehearne, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Teachers' Federation: Myles Ellis, Director of Economic and Member Services; Emily Noble, President. Media Action: Shari Graydon, Director. As an individual: Al MacKay.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, October 16, 2007, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-327, An Act to amend the Broadcasting Act (reduction of violence in television broadcasts).
 

Emily Noble made a statement and, with Myles Ellis, answered questions.

 

Shari Graydon made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 4:36 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:42 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Al MacKay made a statement and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite René Caron and a group of children to appear on April 1, 2008, in relation to the study of Bill C-327, An Act to amend the Broadcasting Act (reduction of violence in television broadcasts).

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
