Monday, February 4, 2008
 

The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met in camera at 4:35 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Barry Devolin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Rod Bruinooge, Jean Crowder, Barry Devolin, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Tina Keeper, Marc Lemay, Yvon Lévesque, Hon. Anita Neville and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Mervin Tweed for Brian Storseth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the 3rd Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

That the AFN and Grand Chief Phil Fontaine be invited to appear on Monday, February 11, 2008; followed by panels of regional and provincial groups.

That the Clerk and Analyst work with the Chair to prepare a draft work plan for witnesses, to be discussed by the Committee next Wednesday, February 13, 2008.

That Committee Members submit any witness suggestions to the Clerk as soon as possible.

 

It was agreed, — That the report of the Subcommittee be concurred in.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee, prepare a draft budget regarding the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards and present it to the Committee for consideration.

 

It was agreed, — That debate resume on the motion under consideration next Wednesday, February 13, 2008.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
