The Standing Committee on Official Languages met at 9:09 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, for the purpose of electing a Vice-Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 106(2).

 

Members of the Committee present: Vivian Barbot, Sylvie Boucher, Jean-Claude D'Amours, Yvon Godin, Luc Harvey, Guy Lauzon, Pierre Lemieux, Pablo Rodriguez and Hon. Raymond Simard.

 

Acting Members present: Claude Bachand for Paule Brunelle and Steven Blaney for Daniel Petit.

 

In attendance: Parliamentary Information and Research Service: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Committee proceeded to the election of a Vice-Chair.
 

On motion of Raymond Simard, it was agreed, — That Pablo Rodriguez be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

Guy Lauzon took the Chair.

 

At 9:14 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 9:15 a.m., the Committee resumed sitting in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 10:05 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:09 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

At 10:48 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
