The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 9:08 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Vice-Chair, Ruby Dhalla, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, France Bonsant, Patrick Brown, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Ruby Dhalla, Mike Lake, Yves Lessard, Michael Savage, Mario Silva and Lynne Yelich.

 

Acting Members present: Vivian Barbot for France Bonsant and Patricia Davidson for Hon. Michael D. Chong.

 

Associate Members present: Olivia Chow.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, November 22, 2006, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-303, An Act to establish criteria and conditions in respect of funding for early learning and child care programs in order to ensure the quality, accessibility, universality and accountability of those programs, and to appoint a council to advise the Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development on matters relating to early learning and child care.
 

Dean Allison took the Chair.

 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That the following application form for the Centennial Flame Research Award be approved and published on the Committee's Web site.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee reserve 30 minutes at the beginning of its May 10th meeting to permit Department officials to answer the members' questions on Child Care Early Learning policy and Bill C-303.

 

At 10:40 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:49 a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 12:12 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
