The Standing Committee on Health met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Bonnie Brown, Patrick Brown, Patricia Davidson, Steven John Fletcher, Christiane Gagnon, Susan Kadis, Luc Malo, Rob Merrifield and Penny Priddy.

 

Acting Members present: Lynne Yelich for Rahim Jaffer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Odette Madore, Analyst; Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Tony Clement, Minister of Health.

 

Witnesses: Department of Health: Morris Rosenberg, Deputy Minister; Marcel Nouvet, Acting Chief Financial Officer; Frank Fedyk, Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Health Policy Branch. Public Health Agency of Canada: David Butler-Jones, Chief Public Health Officer; Luc Ladouceur, Chief Financial Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee resumed consideration of the Main Estimates 2007-2008: Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 under HEALTH referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 27, 2007.
 

The Chair called Vote 1 under HEALTH.

 

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

Vote 1 under HEALTH carried.

 

Vote 5 under HEALTH carried.

 

Vote 10 under HEALTH carried.

 

Vote 15 under HEALTH carried.

 

Vote 20 under HEALTH carried.

 

Vote 25 under HEALTH carried.

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, under HEALTH to the House.
