The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patricia Davidson, Johanne Deschamps, Nina Grewal, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Maria Minna, Joy Smith and Bruce Stanton.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Carolyn Bennett for Hon. Anita Neville, Meili Faille for Nicole Demers, Nancy Karetak-Lindell for Hon. Belinda Stronach and Alan Tonks for Yasmin Ratansi.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Public Service Human Resources Management Agency of Canada: Monique Boudrias, Executive Vice-President. Treasury Board Secretariat: Linda Lizotte-MacPherson, Associate Secretary. Department of Justice: Donna Miller, Associate Deputy Minister. Department of Human Resources and Social Development: Kathy O'Hara, Senior Associate Deputy Minister. Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Janet Siddall, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committe on September 26, 2006, the Committee resumed its study of Gender-Based Analysis.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:05 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:07 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report on a potential breach of privilege.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on February 27, 2007, the Committee commenced its study of the elimination of discrimination against women in the employment insurance program.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a dissenting opinion from the Conservative Party, provided that it is no more than two pages in length and submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than Friday, March 2, 2007.

 

At 5:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
