The Subcommittee on Public Safety and National Security of the Standing Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness met in camera at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Paul Zed, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Joe Comartin, Peter MacKay, Serge Ménard and Paul Zed.

 

Acting Members present: Peter Goldring for Kevin Sorenson, John Maloney for Hon. Roy Cullen and Lloyd St. Amand for Tom Wappel.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, Analyst.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed that in the context of its review of the Antiterrorism Act, the Subcommittee on Public Safety and National Security invite the B.C. Civil Liberties Association, Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld, Director, American Centre for Democracy and Dr. Boaz Ganor, Executive Director, International Policy Institution for Counter-Terrorism to appear as witnesses.

 

It was agreed, — That the Masters of Law thesis of Rayner Thwaites and the draft Masters of Law thesis of Irina Ceric submitted by Paul Copeland be filed as exhibits with the Clerk of the Subcommittee. (See Exhibits "SNSN - B and C")

 

That the Chair, in consultation with Subcommittee staff, schedule additional witnesses based on the draft work plan.

 

At 4:05 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
