The Standing Committee on Industry, Natural Resources, Science and Technology met at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Michael Chong, John Duncan, Hon. Marlene Jennings, Brian Masse, Lynn Myers, Hon. Jerry Pickard, Werner Schmidt, Brent St. Denis and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Ed Komarnicki for Werner Schmidt, Carole Lavallée for Paul Crête and Robert Vincent for Marc Boulianne.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 5, 2005, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-55, An Act to establish the Wage Earner Protection Program Act, to amend the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Thursday, May 5, 2005, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-281, An Act to amend the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, the Canada Business Corporations Act, the Employment Insurance Act and the Employment Insurance Regulations.
 

Andrew Kent, Tamra Thomson, Deborah Grieve and Robert Klotz made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 10:14 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:17 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Peter Lewis made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:56 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
