The Standing Committee on Industry, Natural Resources, Science and Technology met in a televised session at 9:33 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Michael Chong, Hon. Denis Coderre, Paul Crête, John Duncan, Brian Masse, Hon. Jerry Pickard, Andy Savoy, Werner Schmidt, Brent St. Denis and Bradley R. Trost.

Acting Members present: Hon. Larry Bagnell for Lynn Myers , Hon. Don Boudria for Hon. Denis Coderre and Marc Boulianne for Serge Cardin .

Other Members present: Hon. Dan McTeague.

Canadian Independent Petroleum Marketers Association: Jane Savage, President and Chief Executive Officer. Independent Petroleum Retailers Association of Canada: Tajdin Esmail. The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

On motion of Jerry Pickard, it was agreed, — That the proposed budget for the study of Fuel/Gasoline prices in Canada, in the amount of $38, 950 for the period of September 22, 2005, to October 28, 2005, be adopted.

John Duncan moved, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Finance Ralph Goodale, the Minister of Natural Resources John Efford, the Minister of Transportation Jean Lapierre and the Minister of Environment Stéphane Dion to appear before the Committee no later than September 29th to discuss how fuel prices are being addressed by their departments.

After debate, by unanimous consent, the motion was allowed to stand.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study of Fuel/Gasoline prices in Canada.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 1:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
