The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Paul Steckle, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, André Bellavance, Hon. Wayne Easter, Hon. Mark Eyking, Réal Lapierre, Larry Miller, David Smith, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.

 

Acting Members present: Garry Breitkreuz for James Bezan and Jeff Watson for Gerry Ritz.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Canada Border Services Agency: Suzanne Parent, Director General, Trade Programs Directorate; Barry Desormeaux, Director, Consumer Products, Anti-dumping and Countervailing; Wayne Neamtz, Director, Operational Policy, Anti-dumping and Countervailing; Darwin Satherstrom, Director, Tariff Policy. Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food: Graham Barr, Director, Multilateral Trade Policy Division; Howard Migie, Director General, Strategic Policy Branch. Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (International Trade): Paul Robertson, Director, Trade Remedies Division.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 28, 2005, the Committee commenced its study on corn imports from the United States.
 

Suzanne Parent and Paul Robertson made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
