The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met in a televised session at 11:10 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D Centre Block, the Chair, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, André Bellavance, Bernard Cleary, Jeremy Harrison, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gary Lunn, Pat Martin, Jim Prentice, Carol Skelton, David Smith, Lloyd St. Amand and Roger Valley.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Roy Cullen for David Smith, Marcel Gagnon for André Bellavance and Lynne Yelich for Gary Lunn.

 

Other Members present: Yvon Godin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, Analyst; Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst. House of Commons: Jean-Philippe Brochu, Committee Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Lands Advisory Board: Chief Robert Louie, Chairman; Chief Austin Bear; William McCue, Counsellor; Chief Frank Whitehead; Barry Seymour. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of on-reserve matrimonial real property.
 

Chief Robert Louie and Chief Austin Bear made statements and, with William McCue, Chief Frank Whitehead and Barry Seymour, answered questions.

 

At 12:11 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:20 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Chief Tina Leveque made a statement and, with Candice Metallic, answered questions.

 

At 1:13 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:15 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Beverley Jacobs made a statement and, with Marilyn Buffalo, answered questions.

 

At 1:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
