The Standing Committee on Transport met in a televised session at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, John Cannis, Vice-Chair, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: John Cannis, Bev Desjarlais, Liza Frulla, Roger Gallaway, Ovid Jackson, Stan Keyes, Mario Laframboise, James Moore, Marcel Proulx.

Acting Member present:  Joe Fontana for Joe Comuzzi.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament:  John Christopher, Principal Analyst.

Appearing:  The Hon. David Collenette, Minister of Transport.

Witness(es): From the Department of Transport: Louis Ranger, Deputy Minister; Kristine Burr, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy Group; Jacques Pigeon, Senior General Counsel and Head, Department of Justice; Gerry Frappier, Director General, Security and Emergency Preparedness.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to review the program and objectives of the Department of Transport.

Minister David Collenette made an opening statement and, with Louis Ranger, answered questions.

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
