Meeting No. 13

Tuesday, May 13, 2003

The Subcommittee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 9:12 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Carolyn Bennett, presiding.

Members of the Sub-Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Reed Elley, Wendy Lill.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: William Young, Kevin Kerr and Megan Furi, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of Human Resources Development: Susan Scotti, Assistant Deputy Minister, Income Security Programs; Susan Williams, Director General, Disability Benefits and Appeals, Income Security Programs; Nancy Lawand, Director, Canada Pension Plan Program Policy.  From the Department of Finance: Réal Bouchard, Director, Social Policy, Federal-Provincial Relations and Social Policy Branch; Susan Kalinowski, Senior Policy Analyst, Income Security, Federal-Provincial Relations and Social Policy Branch; Anthony Pizarro, Policy Analyst, Income Security and Social Policy, Federal-Provincial Relations and Social Policy Branch. From the B.C. Coalition of People with Disabilities: Elizabeth Davis, Senior CPP Advocate.  From the New Brunswick Mental Health Consumer:  Marjorie Edwards, Vice- President.   As Individual:  John Wodak; Roy Muise; Walter Nash. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Subcommittee resumed its study of Canada Pension Plan Disability. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Wednesday November 20, 2002, Meeting no. 1).

Witnesses made a statement.

At 9:38 a.m. the sitting was suspended.

At 9:45 a.m., the sitting resumed.

The Subcommittee proceeded to a round table discussion with its study on the Canada Pension Plan Disability.

At 12:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
