MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 7

Thursday, February 27, 2003

The Special Committee on the Modernization and Improvement of the Procedures of the House of Commons met in camera at 8:06 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Don Boudria, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: The Hon. Don Boudria, Michel Gauthier, Monique Guay, Loyola Hearn, Stan Keyes,  John Reynolds.

Acting Member present: Libby Davies for Bill Blaikie.

In attendance: From the House of Commons: Diane Diotte, Procedural Clerk. From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Analyst.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the House of Commons on Thursday, November 28, 2002, the Committee resumed consideration of its study of the modernization and improvement of the procedures of the House of Commons (See Minutes of Proceedings of Thursday, December 5, 2002).

The Committee considered two draft reports.

It was agreed, - That the draft report be adopted as the second report of the Committee and that the Chair present it to the House .

It was agreed, - That the draft report, as amended, be adopted as the third report of the Committee and that the Chair present it to the House.

It was agreed, - That the Committee be authorized to purchase gifts to be presented to foreign hosts.

At 9:05 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
