Monday, June 16, 2003
The Subcommittee on Electoral Boundaries Readjustment of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met in camera at 9:32 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Paddy Torsney, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Yvon Godin, Michel Guimond, Marcel Proulx, Scott Reid, Paddy Torsney.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Analyst.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs on Thursday, November 7, 2002, the Subcommittee resumed consideration of the matter of the objections to the report of the electoral boundaries commission for Ontario.
The Subcommittee resumed consideration of a draft report concerning the objections to the Commission’s report for Ontario.
It was agreed, - That the written submission from the Hon. Maria Minna be included with the report of the Committee and the minutes of proceedings and evidence of the Subcommittee when these documents are returned to the Speaker.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs on Thursday, November 7, 2002, the Subcommittee resumed consideration of the matter of the objections to the report of the electoral boundaries commission for Quebec.
The Subcommittee resumed consideration of a draft report concerning the objections to the Commission’s report for Quebec.
It was agreed, - That correspondence and related material submitted by Marcel Proulx and Michel Guimond relating to the electoral district to which the municipalities of Chibougamau and Chapais should belong be included with the report of the Committee and the minutes of proceedings and evidence of the Subcommittee when these documents are returned to the Speaker.
It was agreed, - That a supplementary opinion from Michel Guimond be appended to the report prepared by the Subcommittee.
It was agreed, - That members and staff of the Subcommittee continue consideration of the draft report informally over lunch in the Parliamentary Restaurant.
At 12:49 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 14:55 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, - That, subject to the approval of the final wording by the Chair, Michel Guimond and Scott Reid, the draft report be the report of the Subcommittee; and
That, pursuant to Order made by the House on Thursday, June 12, 2003, the Chair do file the report with the Clerk of the House as the report of the Committee.
