Meeting No. 46

Tuesday, November 4, 2003

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 9:14 a.m. this day, in Room 209 West Block, the Vice-Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, Odina Desrochers, Christian Jobin, Philip Mayfield, Beth Phinney, Judy Sgro, Tony Tirabassi and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Acting Members present: Diane Bourgeois for Roger Gaudet, Jim Gouk for Val Meredith and Stan Keyes for Hon. Jim Peterson.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean Dupuis, Analyst ; Brian O'Neal, Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g), the Committee resumed consideration of a draft report on Chapter 4 (Correctional Service Canada - Reintegration of Women Offenders) of the April 2003 Report of the Auditor General of Canada

It was agreed, — That the Committee adopt the draft report as the TWENTY-SIXTH Report to the House.

It was agreed, — That pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to this Report.

It was agreed, — That the Chair be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes to the Report as may be necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the TWENTY-SIXTH Report to the House.

It was agreed, — That a Press Release be issued.

It was agreed, - That a supplementary opinion from the Bloc Québécois be appended to the Twenty-Sixth Report after the signature of the Chair, and that the opinion be limited to one page and be sent to the Clerk of the Committee in both official languages, in electronic format by noon Wednesday, November 5, 2003.

At 9:48 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
