The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 3:39 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C Centre Block, the Chair, Reg Alcock, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Reg Alcock, Carolyn Bennett, Leon Benoit, Joe Clark, Roy Cullen, Ken Epp, Paul Forseth, Robert Lanctôt, Derek Lee, Pat Martin, Massimo Pacetti and Judy Sgro.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Le Goff, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Governor General: Barbara Uteck, Secretary to the Governor General; JoAnn Mackenzie, Director of Finance. Privy Council Office: Robert A. Wright, Associate Secretary to the Cabinet, Deputy Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister and Security and Intelligence Coordinator. Canadian Centre for Management Development: Denise Boudrias, Senior Vice-President, Learning and Leadership Centres. Canadian Intergovernmental Conference Secretariat: Stuart MacKinnon, Secretary. Public Service Staff Relations Board: Yvon Tarte, Chairperson. Public Service Commission of Canada: Scott Serson, President; Raymond Crête, Director General, Resourcing Services Directorate; Greg Gauld, Vice-President, Merit Policy and Accountability Branch; Michael Nelson, Vice-President, Learning and Development Programs Branch; Gilles Charron, Director General, Finance and Administration Directorate.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee resumed consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (A) 2003-2004: Vote 110a under Canadian Heritage; Vote 1a under Governor General; Votes 1a, 5a, 10a and 35a under Privy Council; Votes 1a, 15a and 20a under Public Works and Government Services; Votes 1a, 10a and 15a under Treasury Board referred to the Committee on Tuesday, September 23, 2003.
 

Barbara Uteck made a statement and, with JoAnn Mackenzie, answered questions.

 

At 4:43 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:45 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Robert A. Wright, Denise Boudrias, Stuart MacKinnon and Yvon Tarte made statements and answered questions.

 

At 6:10 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 6:17 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Scott Serson made a statement and, with the other witnesses from the Public Service Commission of Canada, answered questions.

 

At 7:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
