The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met in a televised session at 9:15 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, David Pratt, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Cheryl Gallant, Dominic LeBlanc, David Pratt, Elsie Wayne.
Acting Members present: Alexa McDonough for Bill Blaikie; Francine Lalonde for Claude Bachand.
Other members present: John Godfrey, Bob Wood.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Michel Rossignol, Research Officer; Barry Hamilton, Consultant.
Witnesses: From the Liu Institute for Global Issues: The Hon. Lloyd Axworthy, Director and Chief Executive Officer. From the University of Toronto: Dr. John Polanyi, Professor, Department of Chemistry.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on Canada-United States Defence Cooperation and on other related issues.
The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.
At 11:05 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
