The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 9:15 a.m. this day, in Moose Jaw at the Heritage Inn, Jubilee C , the Chair, Hon. Andy Scott, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Chuck Cadman, Hon. Hedy Fry, Paul Harold Macklin, Richard Marceau, John McKay, The Hon. Andy Scott.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, senior analyst.

Witnesses: From the Saskatchewan New Green Alliance: Brian Berezowski. As Individual: Donald R. McLean. From the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour: Donna Smith, Vice-President, Solidarity and Pride; Larry Hubich, President.  As Individual: Ned Garstad; Jill Brewer; Rosalie Boots; Beverley Dent. From The Saskatchewan Conference of the United Church of Canada: Bob Kimmerly. As Individual: Elaine Anderson.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on marriage and the legal recognition of same-sex unions.

At 9:15 a.m., Donald McLean and Brian Berezowski made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:04 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:08 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Donna Smith, Larry Hubich, Ned Garstad and Jill Brewer made a statement and answered questions.

At 11:20 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:30 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Rosalie Boots, Beverley Dent, Rev. Bob Kimmerly and Elaine Anderson made a statement and answered questions.

At 1:05 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:12 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Nicole White made a brief statement.

At 1:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
