The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 9:11 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, The Hon. Andy Scott, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Chuck Cadman, Derek Lee, Paul Harold Macklin, John Maloney, Richard Marceau, John McKay, Joe Peschisolido, The Hon. Andy Scott, Kevin Sorenson.
Acting Members present: Diane Ablonczy for Vic Toews, Réal Ménard for Robert Lanctôt.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Philip Rosen, senior analyst, Kristen Douglas, analyst.
Witnesses: From the Unitarian Church of Montreal: Rev. Meg Roberts. From the Kingston Unitarian Fellowship: Rev. Kathy Sage. From Canada Family Action Coalition: Brian Rushfeldt, Executive Director. As Individual: Prof. Katherine K. Young, McGill University; Dr. Paul Nathanson.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on marriage and the legal recognition of same-sex unions.
The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.
At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
