The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 9:35 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Walt Lastewka, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Larry Bagnell, Paul Crête, Cheryl Gallant, Walt Lastewka, Dan McTeague, James Rajotte, Andy Savoy, Brent St. Denis, Paddy Torsney and Joseph Volpe.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lalita Acharya, Geoffrey P. Kieley and Dan Shaw, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Department of Industry: Peter Harder, Deputy Minister; Michael Binder, Assistant Deputy Minister, Spectrum, Information Technologies and Telecommunications; Larry Shaw, Deputy Director General, Telecommunications Policy Branch; Pierre-Yves Boivin, Economist.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to the consideration of Foreign Investment Restrictions Applicable to Telecommunications Common Carriers.
Peter Harder and Larry Shaw both made opening statements and, with Pierre-Yves Boivin and Michael Binder answered questions.
At 11:35 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 11:39 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.
The Committee considered its future business.
At 11:56 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
