Wednesday, November 21, 2001
The Sub-Committee on Human Rights and International Development of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 208, West Block, the Chair, Beth Phinney, presiding.
Members of the Sub-Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, Antoine Dubé, Marlene Jennings, Deepak Obhrai, Beth Phinney.
In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: James Lee, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Nexen Inc.: Randy Gossen, Vice-President, Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility,. From Real Assets Investment Management: Kai Alderson, Vice-President, Research and Corporate Engagement. From the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Stéphanie Allard, First Secretary, Commercial and Trade Program Manager, The Canadian Embassy in Colombia.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee continued its study of human rights, development and other matters in Colombia.
Randy Gossen and Kai Alderson each made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.
Stéphanie Allard made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
