The Special Committee on non-medical use of drugs met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Paddy Torsney, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carole-Marie Allard, André Bachand, Mac Harb, Dominic LeBlanc, Derek Lee, Réal Ménard, Jacques Saada, Paddy Torsney and Randy White.
Acting Members present: Kevin Sorenson for Carol Skelton.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin and Marilyn Pilon, research officers.
Witnesses: From Health Canada: Dr. Jody Gomber, Director General, Drug Strategy and Controlled Substances Programme, Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch; Cathy Airth, Acting Director, Office of Canada's Drug Strategy, Drug Strategy and Controlled Substances Programme, Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch; Carole Bouchard, Director, Office of Controlled Substances, Drug Strategy and Controlled Substances Programme, Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the House of Commons on Thursday, May 17, 2001, consideration of the factors underlying or relating to the non-medical use of drugs.
Judy Gomber made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
