The Special Committee on non-medical use of drugs met at 6:35 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Paddy Torsney, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carole-Marie Allard, Libby Davies, Mac Harb, Dominic LeBlanc, Derek Lee, Réal Ménard, Jacques Saada and Paddy Torsney.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, research officer; Marilyn Pilon, research officer.
Witnesses: From the Department of Justice Canada: Paul Saint-Denis, Senior Counsel, Criminal Law Policy Section; Croft Michaelson, Director, Senior General Counsel, Department of Strategic Prosecution Policy Section.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the House of Commons on Thursday, May 17, 2001, consideration of the factors underlying or relating to the non-medical use of drugs.
Paul Saint-Denis and Croft Michaelson made statements and answered questions.
At 8:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
