Monday, October 1st, 2001
The Special Committee on non-medical use of drugs met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Paddy Torsney, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carole-Marie Allard, Libby Davies, Mac Harb, Derek Lee, Réal Ménard, Jacques Saada, Carol Skelton, Paddy Torsney and Randy White.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, research officer; Marilyn Pilon, research officer.
Witnesses: From the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency: Mark H. Connolly, Director General, Contraband and Intelligence Services Directorate - Customs Branch; Michael Crichton, Chief, Intelligence Development, Intelligence and Operations Division, Contraband & Intelligence Services Directorate; Susan Hague, Senior Program Advisor, Contraband Operations Section, Contraband and Intelligence Services Directorate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the House of Commons on Thursday, May 17, 2001, consideration of the factors underlying or relating to the non-medical use of drugs.
Mark Connolly made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
