The Special Committee on Non-Medical Use of Drugs met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Paddy Torsney, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carole-Marie Allard, Dominic LeBlanc, Derek Lee, Réal Ménard, Paddy Torsney and Randy White.
Other Member present: Hedy Fry.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin and Marilyn Pilon, research officers.
Witnesses: From the Department of Health: Peter Cooney, Acting Director General, Non-Insured Health Benefits, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch; Nick Hossack, Senior Manager, Addictions Team, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch.
Pursuant to the Orders of Reference adopted by the House of Commons on
Thursday, May 17, 2001, Thursday, November 8, 2001 and Friday, February 8,
2002, the Committee resumed consideration of the factors underlying or relating
to the non-medical use of drugs (See Minutes of Proceedings of Thursday,
June 7, 2001, Meeting No. 1).
Nick Hossack and Peter Cooney made statements and answered questions.
At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
