Meeting No. 19

Thursday, May 3, 2001

The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 9:10 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Walt Lastewka, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Reg Alcock, Mauril Bélanger, Pierre Brien, Bev Desjarlais, Marlene Jennings, Walt Lastewka and Dan McTeague.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Geoffrey P. Kieley, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Department of Industry: Diane Champagne-Paul, Registrar, Lobbyists Registration Branch. From the Department of Justice: Irving Miller, Senior Counsel, Commercial Law Division.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to the Statutory Review of the Lobbyists Registration Act.

Diane Champagne-Paul made an opening statement and, with Irving Miller answered questions.

At 10:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
