The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Vice-Chair, Walt Lastewka, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Reg Alcock, Mauril Bélanger, Pierre Brien, John Cannis, Bev Desjarlais, Walt Lastewka, Charlie Penson, James Rajotte and Paddy Torsney.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From Genome Canada: Martin Godbout, Executive Director. From the National Research Council of Canada: Dr. Peter A. Hackett, Vice President, Research and Technology Development; Dr. Walter Davidson, Coordinator (National Facilities), Canadian Light Source; Dr. John Root, Program Leader, Neutron Program for Materials Research, Steacie Institute for Molecular Sciences SIMS.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of the Science and Technology Policies:
Roundtable: Specific Large and Specialized R & D Projects.
Martin Godbout, Dr. John Root, Dr. Walter Davidson and Dr. Peter A. Hackett each made an opening statement and, answered questions.
At 10:35 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
