The Standing Committee on Finance met at the Delta Winnipeg Hotel, Ballroom North, at 9:00 a.m., the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Roy Cullen, Ken Epp, Lorne Nystrom.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Blayne Haggart; Researcher.

Witnesses: From the Congress of Union Retirees of Canada: Al Cerilli, Executive Board Member-at-large, President, Manitoba Federation of Union Retirees. From the Association of Manitoba Municipalities: Wayne Motheral, President. From the Regional Health Authorities of Manitoba: Kevin Beresford, Chair, Council of CEOs; Randy Lock, Executive Director. From the Asper Foundation Inc.: Gail Asper, Managing Director, President, CanWest Global Foundation; Moe Levy, Executive Director; Norm Promislow, Lawyer with Pitblado Buchwald Asper. From the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society - Manitoba: Beth McKechnie, Executive Director, Manitoba Chapter. From the Manitoba Organization of Faculty Associations: James M. Clark, President. From the «Association des résidences pour retraités du Québec»: Eddy Savoie, «Les Résidences Soleil - Groupe Savoie»; Robert Chagnon, Director General.

Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee continued its study on Pre-Budget Consultations.

Al Cerilli, Wayne Motheral, Kevin Beresford, Gail Asper made opening statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 10:28 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:37 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Beth McKechnie, James M. Clark, Eddy Savoie made opening remarks and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 11:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
