The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Roy Cullen, Ken Epp, Albina Guarnieri, Sophia Leung, Yvan Loubier, John McCallum, Shawn Murphy, Lorne Nystrom, Gary Pillitteri.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of Library of Parliament: Blayne Haggart; Researcher; Marion Wrobel, Senior Analyst.
Witnesses: From the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada: Robert J. Giroux, President; Prof. Robert Lacroix, Chairman, AUCC Board of Directors, Chief Administrative Officer, University of Montreal. From the Canadian Association of Research Libraries: Paul Wiens, University Librarian, Queen's University; Tim Mark, Executive Director. From the Canadian Institutes of Health Research: Dr. Allan Bernstein, President. From the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada: Dr. Thomas A. Brzustowski, President. From the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada: Dr. Marc Renaud, President.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83(1), the Committee continued its study on Pre-Budget Consultations.
Robert J. Giroux, Paul Wiens, Dr. Allen Bernstein, Dr. Thomas Brzustowski and Dr. Marc Renaud made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
