Thursday, November 8, 2001

The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 9:12 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Joe Fontana, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mark Assad, Yvon Charbonneau, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Joe Fontana, Paul Forseth, Steve Mahoney, Inky Mark, Jerry Pickard, Judy Wasylycia-Leis, Lynne Yelich.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin.

Witnesses: From the Citizenship and Immigration Canada: Joan Atkinson, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Program Development; Martha Nixon, Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations; Elizabeth Tromp, Director General, Enforcement Branch; Tony Smith, Director, Ports of Entry Management, Enforcement Branch.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) – The Committee resumed consideration of its study on the Security at Ports of Entry in Canada.

Joan Atkinson, Martha Nixon and Tony Smith answered questions.

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
